It is not that the people do not believe the truth, they do not see the truth in the church.

Give us a try.

No es que las personas no creen la verdad, no ver la verdad en la iglesia.

Haga la prueba.

Intentional Relationships

Chambersburg Church of the Nazarene

A Place to Heal. . . A Place to Grow

Our Mission:

Motivated by God’s unconditional love, we will selflessly use

all means available to reach all people possible, leading

them into a passionate, transforming, and ongoing

relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Vision:

Reaching Up. . . Through Worship and Prayer

Reaching In. . . Through Discipleship and Relationships

Reaching Out. . . Through Ministry and Mission

In order to effectively carry out our mission, we will seek to

become a faith community that is guided by these values

and practices:

Worship

God is worthy of worship, and we will offer it to Him with open hearts and genuine spirits. Recognizing that worship is both a corporate and personal act, we will provide opportunities for worship that reflect a variety of styles and elements, allowing as many as possible to find their place and express their heart.

Prayer

Realizing that we cannot accomplish our mission in human strength, we will make every effort to keep prayer at the heart of who we are and all that we do.

Discipleship

The Christian life is one of ongoing transformation into the image of Christ. To assist believers in their journey, we will endeavor to faithfully teach God’s Word to all ages, provide instruction in the practice of the spiritual disciplines, bring understanding of Christian beliefs and doctrine, and establish relationships of Christian accountability.

Relationships

We believe that being united to Christ also means being united to His Body, the Church. Therefore, we will work to create a true community of faith where people are connected to one another in personal relationships for the sake of fellowship and spiritual nurture.

Ministry

All believers are called to serve, and God has gifted each one accordingly. We will seek to help believers identify their gifts and provide them with the necessary training and support, enabling them to effectively serve a role in the continuing ministry of the church.

Mission

We will intentionally work to win people to Christ and set them on the path of discipleship. Identifying opportunities for outreach, we will sacrificially give of ourselves and our resources in order to build God’s Kingdom both locally and globally.

Vision in Action

Purposefully and Intentionally, we will also seek to become externally focused, while maintaining an internal emphasis on identifying and developing the gifts and passions that God has given those within the body of Chambersburg Church of the Nazarene. When combined, we will be better equipped to Reach Out to the community in which God has placed us.

Core Values

We Are a Christian People

As members of the Church Universal, we join with all true believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ and in embracing the historic Trinitarian creedal statements of Christian faith. We value our Wesleyan-Holiness heritage and believe it to be a way of understanding the faith that is true to Scripture, reason, tradition, and experience. Read the essay

We Are a Holiness People

God, who is holy, calls us to a life of holiness. We believe that the Holy Spirit seeks to do in us a second work of grace, called by various terms including "entire sanctification" and "baptism with the Holy Spirit"-cleansing us from all sin; renewing us in the image of God: empowering us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves; and producing in us the character of Christ. Holiness in the life of believers is most clearly understood as Christlikeness. Read the essay.

We Are a Missional People

We are a sent people, responding to the call of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to go into all the world, witnessing to the Lordship of Christ and participating with God in the building of the Church and the extension of His kingdom (2 Corinthians 6:1). Our mission (a) begins in worship, (b) ministers to the world in evangelism and compassion, (c) encourages believers toward Christian maturity through discipleship, and (d) prepares women and men for Christian service through Christian higher education. Matthew 22:36-40

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
